Bowser's airship was steadily flying towards the Moon.
It has been suspected that the Time Lord had set his fortress up there and was strengthening his defenses with the aid of the dreaded Dark Star.
Mario and Luigi had once fought the Dark Star to rescue Princess Peach from Fawful and his piggish sidekick, Midbus.
Returning to the present, Bowser had agreed to give the Mario Bros and Friends a ride on his airship to pursue the Time Lord -- Bowser also suspected he was the mad scientist who trapped him.
Suddenly the airship started to quiver and shake -- an asteroid had hit it.
The only goal right now was to escape the airship before it exploded mid-air.
Mario and others had only one thought - ESCAPE!
